Scott County VINELink Coverage
Kentucky VINE, often styled Enhanced VINE, serves as the state's victim information and notification system. The Kentucky Department of Corrections runs the network. It includes both county jails and state correctional facilities. The Scott County Sheriff's Office contact page links straight to VINE. Even so, the sheriff's office publishes no confirmed Scott County data feed. That matters. A name search that comes back empty may simply reflect the feed, not the arrest. VINE reports whatever custody record a participating agency supplies. It cannot show a court's final outcome. Data transfer can lag behind a fresh booking. A release or transfer may also take time to reach the system. The sheriff's contact page shows the office's VINE referral.
Treat the county link as an official referral. When no Scott County result appears, confirm custody with the jail directly.
Search Scott County VINE Records
Search with care. A common name can pull up several people. Kentucky offers VINELink online plus an automated line at 1-800-511-1670, which runs at any hour.
- Open VINELink and select Kentucky as the state.
- Choose the offender or custody search.
- Enter the person’s first and last name, or use a jail or Department of Corrections number when known.
- Review all matches and compare the displayed identity, status, and facility facts.
- Open the matching record to see available custody details.
- If no credible match appears, call Scott County Detention Center at 502-863-7880.
A miss has many causes. Intake may be incomplete, or the spelling may differ. The record may not have reached VINE yet. The person could also be released or held outside a covered system. For a very fresh Scott County booking, start with the Scott County same-day arrest check. It walks through the official jail roster and phone steps. The VINELink search page provides the entry point.
Think of the interface as a search and alert tool. It is not a complete Scott County arrest ledger.
Scott County VINELink Result Fields
Fields vary by agency. The jail or corrections source decides what appears. VINE answers status and location questions and supports alerts, but it does not reproduce a full booking file.
| Result item | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Name or offender identity | Compare with other identifiers before relying on a match. |
| Jail or DOC number | A stronger search key than a name when known. |
| Custody status | The agency-reported state at the latest update. |
| Facility | The jail or prison associated with the record. |
| Notify Me option | Starts registration for future changes. |
| Release or transfer event | A reported change that should be confirmed if urgent. |
"In custody" describes confinement at that moment. A transfer means the person moved between facilities or systems. Court outcomes live elsewhere, with the Scott County Circuit Clerk or the relevant court.
Register Scott County Custody Alerts
Once the right record appears, select "Notify Me." Kentucky Enhanced VINE then sends alerts by phone, email, text, in-app message, or TTY. Keep your registration details private and current.
- Open the verified person record and choose “Notify Me.”
- Select one or more available delivery routes: phone, email, text, app, or TTY.
- Enter the requested contact details accurately.
- Create a four-digit PIN when prompted for telephone notification.
- Confirm the registration and save the PIN in a secure place.
- When an alert arrives, follow its instructions and verify urgent facts with the facility.
The PIN confirms the intended person got the phone message. It is not an offender number. The Kentucky VINE instructions cover name and number searches plus alert registration. The state brochure details delivery routes and accessible options. For a time-sensitive Scott County custody confirmation, call the detention center.
Kentucky VINE Reliability Caveat
Kentucky reported a serious VINE event in February 2026. A state restoration notice explained that a service degradation produced false notifications. Full Enhanced VINE operation was restored on February 19. The Department of Corrections told users to verify status through VINELink or the automated phone line. It also urged them to re-register any affected alert. One bad stretch does not mean every alert is wrong. It does show why an automated message is never the last word. When a release or transfer affects safety right away, call the facility. Kentucky's line is 1-800-511-1670. Scott County Detention Center is 502-863-7880. The official restoration notice documents the incident.
That notice supports a verify-first habit without suggesting the restored service still fails.
Note: Notification tools cut down repeated checks, but no automated system should decide an urgent custody question alone.
Scott County Versus KOOL
VINE and KOOL overlap, but they answer different questions. KOOL is the Kentucky Department of Corrections public offender lookup. It covers the state corrections slice, including sentenced custody and supervision records held by KY DOC. It is not Scott County's booking feed.
| Need | Best first source |
|---|---|
| Fresh Scott County booking | Detention center roster and jail phone |
| Release or transfer notification | Kentucky VINE, if a matching record is present |
| KY DOC sentenced custody | KOOL, then VINE for supported alerts |
| Court outcome | Scott County Circuit Clerk |
| Older county booking | Detention center records request |
KOOL updates daily, yet final record processing can take up to 120 days. That lag makes it useless for proving a same-day arrest. Match the tool to the custody stage.
Federal Custody Is Outside VINE
Federal custody sits outside the reach of Kentucky VINE. Scott County arrests that land in the federal system call for a different tool. That tool is the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. That BOP search works with identifying details or a federal register number. It is not a Scott County booking roster. Someone still held in local pretrial custody may not appear there at all.
Immigration detention adds another layer. The right search for that custody is the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. A detainer complicates things further. An immigration hold can affect custody before any ICE listing shows up. Check with the holding agency. For routes beyond notifications, the Scott County arrest-record hub helps. It maps court and record options in one place.
Keep Scott County Alerts Current
A VINE alert only works when the contact details behind it still hold. Phone numbers change. Email addresses go stale. After any switch, review what you saved, since an alert cannot land at an outdated destination and a new custody episode may need a fresh registration tied to the new record. Guard the four-digit PIN. If a message conflicts with what the facility says, go back to VINELink and call the jail before acting on it.
Each new arrest can create a new record. Search again and register against the facility's current entry rather than trusting an older alert to still apply.
